Getting Schooled: Learning how to be a {Wedding} Floral Design Star from Nancy Liu Chin

Nancy Liu Chin
Maybe you could teach Martha Stewart a thing or two about hand-tying a bouquet and now you're ready to take the next step into your own wedding floral business. Or maybe things haven't been all roses lately. It's a jungle out there and, whether it's time you sow the seeds or try to get out of the woods, any budding or seasoned wedding floral designer should consider attending Nancy Liu Chin's Wedding Floral Academy (WFA).

The WFA offers three day workshops on floral design and business development. Topics include Nancy's own tips and tricks and how to get your branding to turn a new leaf. The Fall 2010 session is already full but the Spring 2011 is completely open so save the date for April 11 - 13 in San Francisco. Contact WFA for details.

As if the WFA wasn't enough, Nancy shows she's no rolling stone that gathers no moss. She released her own iPhone app, Nancy Liu Chin Designs, earlier this summer. You can check out her wedding galleries with ease and stay on top of her blog and twitter feed.

I promise this is all not just flowery speech. Go check out these links and help your business bloom.

Inspiration Board to Real Wedding: Tropical Pink & Orange

While cleaning up my old computer, I found all the inspiration boards I created for my wedding. Man, I clipped a lot of pictures!  Keep scrolling to see how my florist, Fong of Floral Inspirations, transformed these boards into reality. It would be great to have a series of blog posts like this so email me if you want to share your inspiration boards and real wedding pictures.

So what do you think? Did Fong deliver or what?! Heck yeah! The flowers she used included cymbidiums (my favorite), mokara orchids, mini callas, dahlias, roses, lisianthus, and freesia. These are just a few of the fabulous photos I have. Check back again soon for more floral inspiration.:)
